My brother Kevin is spending Christmas with us this year. It'll be the first Christmas I've had with him since 1998, so I'm really thankful he was able to make the long trek out here for it. It will also be the first Christmas that Nate will have with him. It should go without saying that Nate has been pretty much stuck to his side since he arrived. Best Christmas present ever!

Boozy Black Forest birthday cake
Patty asked me what sort of cake I wanted for my birthday and I chose Black Forest. It's been years since I've actually had one, but they were a particular favourite of mine when I was younger.
I tried me best, but I don't think the pictures do it justice. It was delicious! Better than I remembered. An impressive feat considering it was the first time she had actually made one. Thank you lovely! I think I am going to be asking for these quite a bit from now on!

A walk around Charlottetown
We spent a few days in Charlottetown last week, where we were all nicely spoiled at The Cranford Inn, a lovely B&B not 2 blocks away from our friends Lori and Paul. These photos were taken on a leisurely Friday morning walk through the city, culminating with a lobster dinner at the Water-Prince Corner Shop.

Getting in the mood for Halloween
We've been trying to get this done for a few days now, but the weather hasn't been very cooperative. That and I have been feeling a little under the weather. But we caught a break this morning, it wasn't raining, and I wasn't feeling too badly.
A few minutes of fiddling about and voila! May I present to you dead Ned. As you can see, it didn't take Nate long before he was hamming it up for the camera!

Thanksgiving this year
It's a special Thanksgiving for Nate this year. He'll have all his grandparents together in the one place. Who knows when or if this will ever happen again? He's a lucky kid to have the grandparents he does. It's been quite a revelation for me to see this relationship develop, because I never really had grandparents like that while I was growing up. Different place, different time I suppose.
In any case, watching Nate with his grandparents more than makes up for it.
