Thanksgiving this year

It's  a special Thanksgiving for Nate this year.  He'll have all his grandparents together in the one place.  Who knows when or if this will ever happen again?  He's a lucky kid to have the grandparents he does.  It's been quite a revelation for me to see this relationship develop, because I never really had grandparents like that while I was growing up.  Different place, different time I suppose.

In any case, watching Nate with his grandparents more than makes up for it.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sundays should always start with surprise visits like this

Two old friends got to spend a little time together today.  I doubt if surprise visits get any better than this.

You're doing a great job

Nate:
Dad, you're doing a great job catching all those bugs in your traps.

Me:
Thanks Nate.

Nate:
Yeah, I wanted to tell you that because I'm your manager.

Me:
How do you know about managers?

Nate:
I don't know.  I just know that this town is full of them!

What happened to June and July?

I'm not sure how it happened, but June and July have slipped by and it's August already.  I've been meaning to post updates to this blog for some time now, obviously without any success.  I suppose I could tell you about all that we've been up to, but I'm being lazy.

Jack was our first visitor from Vancouver.
Our peonies bloomed while Patty was in Vancouver.

Mawio'mi - Grand Chief Membertou 400 pow-wow.

Steve, Leah and Liam visit from Vancouver.  Liam hams it up with Nate.

Summer soccer with the Westmount Wallabies.

Father's Day

This evening, Nate went to his treat jar and  picked out a chocolate heart for me.  "Happy father's day!", he cried, as he presented me with his gift.  "It's a Transformers chocolate and they're really crunchy!".

It might not seem like much to you, but it meant the world to me.  I already know I'm his best friend because he tells me this quite often.  I know he loves me because he tells me this almost  everyday now.  Today I found out just how special I was, when he picked a treat out of his treat jar just for me.

So Nate, if you should be reading this one day,  I just want you to know just how special you made me feel today.  I love you son!
